SIGNS OF PREGNANCY

Pregnancy is the period of time between conception and birth during which the baby develops within the uterus. The periods of about 280 days from the time of conception to the birth of the child requires considerable attention to many things on the part of the mother to ensure a normal, healthy baby. Preparation for motherhood entails knowledge of the signs of pregnancy, the importance of prenatal care, and the preparations that have to be made before child delivery.

Pregnancy produces many physical changes in the woman. The first sign of pregnancy which a woman may observe in herself is the cessation of the menstrual flow. Other signs include morning sickness or nausea and vomiting which usually occur from the sixth week to the third month of pregnancy; frequent urination because the uterus is expanding and exerting pressure on the bladder; and enlargement of the abdomen due to the growth of the uterus. By the fourth month, the fetus has grown considerably and the mother’s expanded abdomen and gain weight become more pronounced. Marked changes in the breast include enlargement, heaviness, and a tingling feeling and increased sensitivity in the breast and nipples.

Quickening is the term for the first movement of the baby felt by the expectant mother usually between the 18th and 20th weeks of pregnancy

Moodiness takes place due to the hormonal changes in the expectant mother. Hormonal changes affect emotions and psychological ups and downs are likely to be experienced.

These common signs of pregnancy may or may not be experienced during a particular pregnancy. If some of these signs are due to other causes, the woman must see a doctor who then performs several tests to determine if the woman is pregnant or not

Online Bingo

I asked my friend how she can cope with the boredom since she’s a housewife like me. She told me that she goes to this awesome site that hosts online bingo. And guess what! It’s free bingo!!! Isn’t that great? I went to the site and played and I couldn’t stop for like a couple of hours.

Internet bingo has definitely turned my time management plan around. I have less sleep which is really much more than I need.

Storing Food

About Honey:
To substitute honey for sugar in recipes, start by substituting
up to half of the sugar called for. With a little experimentation,
honey can replace all the sugar in some recipes.

When baking with honey, remember the following:
Reduce any liquid called for by 1/4 cup for each cup of honey used.
Add l/2 teaspoon baking soda for each cup of honey used.
Reduce oven temperature by 25 F to prevent over-browning.

Because of its high fructose content, honey has a higher
sweetening power than sugar. This means you can use less honey
than sugar to achieve the desired sweetness.

When measuring honey, coat the measuring cup with non-stick
cooking spray or vegetable oil before adding the honey.
The honey will slide right out.

To retain honey’s wonderfully luxuriant texture, always store
it at room temperature; never in the refrigerator. If your honey
becomes cloudy, don’t worry. It’s just crystallization, a natural
process. Place your honey jar in warm water until the crystals
disappear. If you’re in a hurry, place it in a microwave-safe
container and heat it in the microwave on HIGH for 2-3 minutes,
stirring every 30 seconds. Remember, never boil or scorch honey.

Storing Cheese:
Store cheese in your refrigerator, which approximates the
temperature of aging rooms. Keep it wrapped tightly in plastic,
away from air. Air helps mold grow on cheese. If you get a little
mold on the outside, just cut it off. The English say if mold
won’t eat your cheddar it can’t taste very good.
Bring cheese to room temperature before melting. Melt cheese
over a low heat to help prevent toughening and separation of
oils and liquids.
Most ripened or aged cheese is low in moisture content and
can be frozen without drastic flavor and texture changes. Thaw
slowly in the refrigerator for 24 hours or more. If frozen for
several months, the cheese may dry out somewhat and become
crumbly when thawed.

Are Bed Bugs Bugging You?

Now, why do you think only bed bugs cause the most disruption in the haven of peace called a home? There are other bugs that bite, yet people complain when a bed bug sinks their teeth into their flesh. Do they really carry pathogenic germs? Or do they just suck blood then leave you at that?

Normally, these insects are nocturnal. Active during the night, when people are peacefully snug into their beds. Because of their flat bodies, they can easily sneak into bedrooms without being easily noticed.

Maintaining a clean and tidy home can prevent you having an infestation of bed bugs in your home. Keep papers, books, magazines and what-not in order. No one wants an infestations of insects that may potentially harm your loved ones. Help the world put a stop to it by making your house flea-free.

Getting Creative With Salads

Tired of eating the same salad, day after day? You can cure the salad blues by experimenting with new and exciting ingredients. Here, approved for all Phases, are a few alternatives to typical salad fixings:

  • Try a darker, more nutrient-dense green (such as baby spinach, arugula, or a spring mix) over your usual iceberg lettuce.
  • Opt for squash, eggplant, artichoke, and zucchini grilled with a touch of extra-virgin olive oil, instead of (or in addition to) more traditional ingredients, like tomatoes and cucumbers.
  • Try avocado or olives for a touch of heart-healthy monounsaturated fat.
  • Toss in grilled chicken, salmon, tuna, shrimp, or even tofu, for some satisfying lean protein.
  • Top with pecans, sunflower seeds, or another more exotic nut, instead of white-bread, buttery croutons.
  • Make your own salad dressing with an extra-virgin olive oil, mustard, balsamic vinegar, and garlic. Store-bought dressings are fine, too, as long as they don’t contain more than 3 grams of sugar per 2-tablespoon serving.

Eating to Lose

While it seems harmless — and possibly even beneficial to weight loss — to skip a meal or a snack from time to time, this common scenario may actually be setting your body up to gain weight. How is it possible to gain weight by NOT eating?

1. The first goal of the South Beach Diet® is to eliminate cravings. Skipping meals and snacks causes exaggerated swings in blood sugar, which may encourage these cravings to return. This may cause you to splurge on unhealthy foods, thus reversing your weight-loss progress.

2. Skipping too many meals can prompt your body to go into starvation mode. In order to conserve energy and resources, your metabolism will start to slow down, ultimately causing your weight loss to stall.

So what should you do if you’re just not hungry? Don’t fall into the common trap of mistaking your diminished cravings for diminished hunger. If you’re following the eating plan correctly — eating regular meals and snacks throughout the day — you probably won’t feel as ravenous as you did in the past because you’ve managed to preempt hunger. If you avoid feeling hungry, you will avoid overeating, and you will be able to achieve and maintain your desired weight.

Fish and Tofu Vegetables

quail-eggs-small.jpg'width=

I found this vegetable recipe at Connie’s food blog last year. I remember it was Lenten season and I’m looking for some vegetarian food as part of our fasting. I saw this tofu and vegetable recipe and tried it at home. My husband and kids just loved it.So I included it on my menu for catering business. This is best for Lenten because it’s a non-meat recipe.

Jewelries

My friend announced that they are now planning for their wedding which is to take place In a few months. He wants to know where he can find jewelries such as rings, bracelets and necklace. He’s looking especially for wedding rings with a unique feature that stands out.

Not too shabby, but not too simple. He wasn’t even looking for something too expensive, but just enough for his soon-to-be-wife to appreciate. I recommended a few jewelry shops near his place of residence and after a couple of months, he had successfully purchased one which, he said, seemed like the perfect one for his wedding.
